BUPi: Property registration is only free until September. Owners of rural or mixed land can still have their properties georeferenced free of charge, but the deadline is approaching: the free service at the Single Building Service Desk (BUPi) has been extended until September 30th, after which registration will cost between € 10 and € 15. 21 Apr 2026 min de leitura From then on, in addition to the cost, the lack of georeferenced graphic representation (RGG) could have a direct impact: without this registration, it is no longer possible to access public support – national or European – and even to carry out transactions, since georeferenced identification becomes required in deeds. Decree-Law 87/2026, published this Thursday in the Official Gazette, amends Law 78/2017, aimed at "effective planning, management and decision-making on the national territory and an efficient definition of public policies for risk prevention and combating rural fires". The decree was revised in 2023, expanding procedures and the free service regime, later extended until the end of 2025, and this new amendment clarifies the "concept of 'interested parties' with standing" for georeferenced graphic representation (RGG). Free service extended until September 30th The sharing of information from BUPi with “private entities that carry out public functions”, the “creation of a special procedure for the annexation of rural properties”, the conversion of the RGG into a geometric configuration of the property, but independent of the property identification number (NIP), and the extension of “free service until September 30th” are other stated objectives. The decree stipulates that “acts covering rural or mixed properties with an area equal to or less than 50 hectares are free of charge until September 30th” and that, “from October 1st”, €15 will be charged for each RGG, up to the ninth registration, and €10 from the tenth RGG onwards. The free provision for several acts foreseen in the 2019 legislation remains in effect until the new legislation comes into force on Thursday, and the “administrative conciliation procedure” by a qualified technician “is free until September 30th”. Regarding registration fees, the special justification procedure, including all acts, is set at 200 euros for the process and 100 euros for each objection, plus 50 euros for each additional property, up to the limit set by law, and 250 euros for the special registration process.
